by user DNL Quinnipiac University released a poll today that asked over 1,300 Ohioans who they would vote for in a number of hypothetical 2008 Presidential matchups. Hillary Clinton managed to best all three presumptive GOP favorites in John McCain, Rudy Giuliani, and Mitt Romney. Clinton's dominance is even more impressive when one notices that she topped the 50% barrier in a matchup versus Romney. But what struck me as incredible was this line: Former Vice Presidential candidate John Edwards edges McCain 44 - 41 percent. That's just outside the margin of error, too. __NOEDITSECTION__

Image:JohnEdwards.jpg I've always seen Edwards as style over substance, bravado over experience, and generally, a political lightweight. I thought that view was widely held... but I guess not. Or maybe that is true, but McCain's bed is already made. In three fictional matchups, he garners only 41% or 42% of the vote (42 versus Clinton; 41 versus both Edwards and Barack Obama). Maybe the poll is not suggesting that Edwards is strong, but rather that McCain cannot reasonably expect to pick up undecides? Check out the poll and make the call. __NOEDITSECTION__ From The Opinion Wiki, a Wikia wiki. From The Opinion Wiki, a Wikia wiki.
