The Long Dark Night happened in 278AC a mysterious darkness affected northern Allansia, whereby the sun did not appear to rise for two months. The source of this no doubt could be found in the machinations of dark sorcery, but what sinister events happened in that time, aside from the increased attacks of foul Evil creatures, is not yet fully understood. This event is remembered most pointedly by the candle sellers of this world. Although candles were sold at a phenomenal rate, thus bringing them some measure of fortune, the wax needed to make the candles also began to run out sharply. As an example, the candle seller within Firetop Mountain was charging 5 GP for each of his fabled Blue Candles before the Long Dark Night, but 20 GP afterwards.
