It premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2003 and was also shown at the Cannes Film Festival, but it was not released to theatres in the United States until 2005. It was co-produced by Roc-A-Fella Films and distributed by TLA Releasing. Damon Dash directed the film and Adam Moreno wrote its screenplay.
