A Teamsters office is an infrastructure building in Tropico 5. It facilitates the transportation of resources around the island. Every island starts with one pre-built Teamsters Office and can never have any less than that. It is wise to put a teamster office next to each major supplier or producer (within reason) but have direct routes. If the teamsters take wool to a factory but another teamster office is on the route first, they will drop it off there, and wait for the second office to deliver it to the factory. This is much more complicated and far less efficient.

abstract
  • A Teamsters office is an infrastructure building in Tropico 5. It facilitates the transportation of resources around the island. Every island starts with one pre-built Teamsters Office and can never have any less than that. Teamsters are essential to the island but must be managed effectively. Because teamsters ferry goods to and from where it needs to go, too many will make the capacity smaller and struggle to supply demand, whereas too few offices will mean that factories, mines and other outputs don't offload their goods. This leads to stockpiling and eventually stopping production altogether. Another major concern is the supply chain. For example, a Textile Factory must have cotton and wool to produce. It doesn't matter if they are close or on the opposite end of the island - if the teamsters can't supply the cotton and Wool, the factory will not produce. As a result you'll have to pay the costs to keep running, incur charges, use electricity and deal with worker revolts but you won't be able to do anything without addressing the main cause. It is wise to put a teamster office next to each major supplier or producer (within reason) but have direct routes. If the teamsters take wool to a factory but another teamster office is on the route first, they will drop it off there, and wait for the second office to deliver it to the factory. This is much more complicated and far less efficient.
