This brief contact allowed their families in the United Federation of Planets to write letters to the crew. One of the transmitted messages was from Lieutenant Tuvok's wife T'Pel, who wrote of the family's journey to the Temple of Amonak in order to ask the priests to say prayers for Tuvok's safe return.
