Originally born on the planet Corellia, Nikolai Romanov was born to the slaves Viktor and Mischa Romanov. Viktor was a Corellian human and Mischa was a juhani cathar. He also had a younger brother, Christoph, but he was sold as a slave to another family. After growing up and working off his parents debt Nikolai took his secret skills of building droids and built an assassin droid for a masked crime lord. The payment from this commission allowed him to pay his way to set up a hide-away lab and barrack of his own on Dxun. Making sure to keep low key and far from the Mandalorian camps, Nikolai began his less than legal production of assassin droids for specific and often unnamed clientelle. Nikolai knew that there were Jedi and Sith abroad in the galaxy but he had no intentions of becoming one. They both seemed so absolute that it left little room to allow for the existence of a grey area. The Shadow Manufacturer knew that with all his work and people he had worked for grey areas had to exist. He had heard of Jedi who exiled themselves for ambiguity but what would the point there then? Spend time training with a faction he didn't believe in to only exile himself later? No, that made no sense. So, on Dxun he would stay living untrained and unaware of his own potential. He's a good business man, very well-adjusted to things done in shadows, and very much willing to do things that will be a "means to an end." He's not an angry or blood-thirsting man merely aware the are alternative ways of achieving ones goals. Nikolai was on Tatooine picking up from his smuggler, Madeleia, when he was discovered by the dark jedi named Killian Quane. After a rather strange and long interview process, Niko was accepted into folds of the prenumbra. While settling in, he came across an idea. He wanted to chemically enhance his genetics. His mother was a juhani cathar but her genes lay dormant in his DNA. After meeting Shyahwyn, an apothecary, and doing some research he discovered three ingredients that would accelerate his mother's cathar genes to be to dominate ones in his own genetic code. Three ingredients, and three different planets...It's going to make for a fun ride!! After awhile training with Invictus, Nikolai went off to see if he could find his brother. After failing to do so, he went back to Dxun to build a legion of droids for Ruusan.
