Upsilon Andromedae is a binary star located approximately 44 light-years away from Earth in the constellation Andromeda. The primary star, Upsilon Andromedae A is a yellow-white dwarf star that is somewhat younger than the Sun. The second star in the system, Upsilon Andromedae B, is a red dwarf located in a wide orbit. The Upsilon Andromedae System contains four large planets, all of which are gas giants, and one of which is in the stars habitable zone (Upsilon Andromedae d). Although the system's primary star, Upsilon Andromedae A, is strikingly similar to the sun, it was been confirmed that the system contains no rocky planetoids large enough to be considered their own planets. Although explored only briefly, it has been concluded that due to the general conditions of all known celestial

Although explored only briefly, it has been concluded that due to the general conditions of all known celestial bodies in the star system, that the system is unlikely to host any of it's own sentient or semi-sentient lifeforms. The Upsilon Andromedae System has never been considered as a destination for human colonization, and is regarded as a relatively unimportant area to investigate by the United Nations Space Command. It is the setting of Halo: Infection, and the Upsilon Andromedae Incident.
