| Synopsis
| - Lenox, Washington: Unidentified monster seen walking in Oregon from last issue, gets mocked by some children as it passes by. A police officer approaches "him" to offer assistance. The monster attacks and consumes the officer.
Mountain Home Air Force Base: Captain Atom has a flashback to when he was a pilot for the airforce.
Current: Winslow Air Force Base: General Eiling demands Captain Atom fall inline as an officer and follow the chain of command, telling him that he is a super weapon that will keep America on top. Captain Atom balks at the idea of being another "Atomic Bomb" for them. General Eiling then attempts to quarantine Captain Atom by bombarding him with a fluctuating energy, believing that Captain Atom would be paralyzed by having to focus all his effort on maintaining his form. Captain Atom declares that he doesn't need food, water, oxygen, or sleep, and that he has "decided" not to be captured. Not taking no for an answer General Eiling calls for an attack on Captain Atom, and okays an air strike against him. Captain Atom uses his powers to transform the fighter jets into feathers, and the bullets from the soldiers prove ineffective.
Continuum: Captain Atom discusses his feelings of alienation with Ranita when her hand glows red and shrivels, Ranita screams in pain and a horrified Captain Atom exclaims "Ranita!"
Lenox, Washington: a travelling family pulls into a diner for some grub. When they enter they discover that the diner has been infested by this now much larger monster.
