Darrin Chiaverini (born October 12, 1977) is a former American football wide receiver in the National Football League for the Cleveland Browns, Dallas Cowboys and the Atlanta Falcons. Chiaverini ranked 5th among NFL rookies in 1999 with 44 catches for the Cleveland Browns. He also excelled in the AFL from 2004-2006, with 213 receptions for 1944 yards and 33 touchdowns for the Austin Wranglers. He played college football at the University of Colorado and became the first ever winner of The Buffalo Heart Award. The award is now given annually to the player that best exemplifies Colorado Football. During Chiaverini's time there, from 1995-1998, Colorado had two 10 win seasons and he was a part of three Bowl win teams (Cotton 1996, Holiday 1996, and Aloha 1998). Prior to his arrival at the University of Colorado, Chiaverini led the state of California in receptions with 88 and had 1,188 yards receiving in 1994 while attending Corona High School in Corona. Chiaverini was team captain for the Buffs in 1998 and was drafted in the fifth round of the 1999 NFL Draft. He holds the Browns' record for most catches by a rookie an a game with 10 receptions against the Jacksonville Jaguars(1999). Since leaving the NFL he has gone into coaching. Darrin served as the Wide Receiver Coach in 2007 for Mount San Antonio College. Mt Sac went onto win the Mission Conference and Southern California Championship. In 2008 Darrin served as the co-offensive coordinator/wide receiver coach for Mount San Antonio College. Mount San Antonio College won back-to-back Southern California Titles in 2007 and in 2008. In 2009, Chiaverini worked with UCLA football as the Assistant Special Teams Coach under Frank Gansz Jr. UCLA's Special teams ranked among the best in the PAC-10 in 2009. UCLA went on to defeat Temple University 30-21 in the 2009 Eagle Bank Bowl in Washington DC. Chiaverini was hired in January 2010 by Riverside City College as Associate Head Coach / Recruiting coordinator. Darrin also coordinates the Special Teams and shares play calling duties on offense under Legendary Junior College Head Coach Tom Craft. Helped Riverside to a 10-1 record and a Central Division Championship during the 2010 season. Riverside Tigers defeated LA Harbor College in the Central Division Championship Bowl (November 2010). RCC was 1-9 in 2009 and the 10-1 record in 2010 marks one of the biggest turnarounds in Junior College Football History. In 2011, RCC recorded a perfect 11-0 record, snapping Mount San Antonio's 26 game win streak. RCC currently holds the Nations Longest Win Streak at 19 games. Riverside College went on to capture Back to Back Central Division Championships and was ranked #1 in Southern California in the final poll conducted by The CCCAA/CCCFCA Football Poll(11/13/2011). Riverside concluded their season with a convincing win over Saddleback College 31-14 in the Golden State Bowl (11/19/2011). RCC led the Nation in scoring averaging 49.6 points per game and scoring 64 touchtowns on offense (Both are school records). RCC's Special Teams have ranked amongst the best in Southern California blocking 21 kicks in 2 seasons. Darrin also serves as the Recruiting Coordinator for Riverside City College. In 2011 Riverside had 15 players offered Division 1 Scholarships with 8 players signing during the midyear signing period. (Both school records) Darrin Chiaverini completed his Bachelor Degree in Communications in Winter 2006 from the University of Colorado. He went on to complete his Masters Degree in Human Performance and Sport Sciences in 2009 from New Mexico Highlands University. Chiaverini was inducted into the Corona High School Hall Of Fame on October 13, 2010. Chiaverini resides in Corona, California, with his wife Shannon and their two children.
