Bar La Chat was a bar in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C. It was often frequented by foreign embassy employees. A month before the California primary, Elizabeth Nash and a few other friends from Senator David Palmer's advance team went out to the bar for a round of drinks. Nash spotted Alexis Drazen, whom she had seen at the Capitol Hill Starbucks earlier in the day, and the two struck up a conversation. Drazen bought her a sangria, which was her favorite drink, and before long the two left together, marking the start of their relationship.
