A Mario Imposter paints graffiti all over Delfino Plaza and all over the Islands and leaves Mario with the trouble. Mario then finds a Water Pump named F.L.U.U.D desigined by Professor E. Gadd. After getting around 30 stars, the Mario Imposter, better known as Shadow Mario, appears holding a Yoshi Egg. After the player beats him, you can ride on Yoshi, although Yoshi cannot swim and will disintegrate if he comes in contact with water. If Yoshi goes into a body of water, he will disappear. This is the first appearance of both Bowser Jr. and Petey Piranha in the Mario series.

After collecting 70 Shine Sprites, Mario must go to Corona Moutain where Bowser Jr and Bowser are waiting for him. After defeating the two and rescuing Princess Peach, Bowser Jr says he wants to fight Mario again. Bowser praises him but then says to rest awhile.

- Justin and Dre tested the mod out over netplay, which ended up being exceedingly laggy, most likely due to the intense water physics. Due to these issues, they weren't able to continue, and no one has tried out the mod over the internet since then. However, hope was not lost, since Kris visited Justin's house from July 30th to August 5th in 2017, and they were both able to play the mod locally without any issues.

- The game takes place on the tropical Isle Delfino, where Mario, Toadsworth, Princess Peach, and five Toads are taking a vacation. A villain resembling Mario, known as Shadow Mario, vandalizes the entire island with graffiti and Mario gets blamed for the mess. Later on, Mario is ordered to clean up Isle Delfino, while saving Princess Peach from Shadow Mario. Mario cleans up the island with a device called F.L.U.D.D (Flash Liquidizer Ultra Dousing Device).
- Everyone's favorite portly plumber, Princess Peach, five Toads (Red, Green, Yellow, Blue, and Purple) and Toadsworth go on a vacation. When they arrive at scenic Isle Delfino, they find that the place has been polluted and plastered with graffiti. Additionally, the Shine Sprites that power the island have disappeared. The culprit is a guy who looks suspiciously like Mario. Everyone's favorite plumber is promptly arrested as he arrives, falsely accused of vandalizing the island. He is put on trial, found guilty, and ordered to clean up the graffiti and recover the Shine Sprites. To help with the cleaning, Mario uses a water/jetpack thing called FLUDD. Wacky hijinks ensue, Peach gets kidnapped again and Bowser is behind it all (and he has a new son to boot).
