Eventually, she wound up with a group of con artists in Shanghai, who were picked up by Cal. Raina remained loyal to Cal for several years before later departing his side. Project Centipede By the 21st century, Raina was one of Project Centipede's highest-ranking individuals. She visited Chan Ho Yin in Hong Kong, amazed by his powers of pyrokinesis. Raina had Chan captured, and brought to a Project Centipede facility. Raina lured Chan into a false sense of trust, giving him an enhancement to his gift, and then taking it away. When Chan escaped, Raina left Dr. Debbie to be killed by Chan while she escaped with a tank full of Chan's platelets. Raina was later speaking to an unknown individual in his prison, and mentioned a clairvoyant. Raina later had some Centipede-powered soldiers spring the unknown individual from his prison. When Coulson's team was viewing the footage of Raina speaking with Edison, Mike Peterson recognized her as Project Centipede's recruiter as he was previously approached by her. When Phil Coulson was caught by Project Centipede, Raina told him that they would get information from him revolving around how he came back to life after he was killed by Loki. Po attempted to force Coulson to remember the circumstances of his resurrection, which the Clairvoyant believed would be key to making invincible super soldiers, but was unsuccessful. Thus the Clairvoyant disposed of Po and assigned Raina to coax answers out of Coulson, somehow providing her with personal information about Coulson to work her charms. Raina was able to tempt Coulson into finding the truth as he was attached to a machine to analyze his memories. But at the same time, Coulson's team arrived at the hideout, so Raina dispatched her Centipede soldiers to deal with them. While this was going on, Coulson regained his true memories regarding his resurrection and started screaming with the recollection of his traumatic memories. Raina was unable to get anything more from him before being confronted by Skye, who swiftly knocked her out. Raina was then arrested by S.H.I.E.L.D. and taken to their headquarters for questioning by Victoria Hand. Hydra After Hydra, the villainous organization behind Centipede, made their presence known, agent Grant Ward broke Raina out of her S.H.I.E.L.D. prison. He took her to Havana, Cuba, where she met the Clairvoyant in person - former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent John Garrett. Although she was shocked to learn that he was not, in fact, a true clairvoyant, Garrett won back her trust after he formally inducted her into Hydra. He then brought her and Ward up to speed on Hydra's failed experiments with the serum that he had recovered from the Guest House. He then assigned her to get Project Centipede back on track to Phase 3. Raina then attempted to crack the hard drive that Skye had uploaded with all the technology Coulson's team had acquired, but the encryption threatened to delete everything unless Skye accessed it. While Ward went to infiltrate his former team, Raina informed Ian Quinn, who had been broken out of the Fridge by Hydra, of the "Clairvoyant's" true identity, and he was annoyed by the revelation, especially that Garrett had cost him all his assets. Garrett and Raina then lightened his mood by showing him the gravitonium that they had recovered from the Fridge. Once Ward and Mike Peterson succeeded in coercing Skye into unlocking the drive, Raina got to work on Simmons' research, eventually noticing that Skye's DNA resembled the same infant once hunted by "monsters" in the Hunan province of China and confided this in Ward. Soon enough, her experiments bore fruit, creating one vial of GH.325. The serum was badly needed as Fitz used an EMP to shut down Garrett's biomechanics, bringing him close to death. Raina then injected the GH.325 into Garrett, healing him and granting him the full powers of the Centipede serum. Ward soon began to worry that Garrett was losing his mind, so Raina spoke with him. Garrett claimed to have gained true clairvoyance and answered Raina's question as to what she would evolve into. Subsequently, Ward confronted Raina after Garrett killed a U.S. general. Raina disagreed with his belief that Garrett had become psychotic. She then started talking about Skye, claiming that Skye was the key to humanity's evolution, and encouraged Ward to go and claim her. Ward then labeled her insane, saying that he has no chance with Skye as she thought him a monster. Raina noted that he doubted whether he truly was a monster or was what Garrett made him to be. Before leaving with Quinn, she told Ward that once Skye's hidden darkness was brought to light, they could be monsters together. Raina later tracked down Cal and told him that she had found his daughter. As she said this she produced a photo of Skye. The Obelisk Months later, Raina tracked down Absorbing Man, revealing that she was aware that he possessed the Obelisk, and offered him a carbine ring, which she described as stronger than diamond, in exchange. As she took note of the Obelisk affecting his body, Creel only took the ring and left. Raina then called the new S.H.I.E.L.D., revealing that she had a tracking device in the ring. But during the commotion, Raina stole the case containing the Obelisk before Creel's Hydra contact could. She brought it to the Doctor, who encouraged her to touch it. Reluctantly, she did so and the 0-8-4 didn't petrify her. When she asked how to unlock its secrets, the Doctor told her to bring him Skye first. While attempting to book a flight to Miami in response to the news of a paintings with the symbols on the Obelisk drawn on the back, she was confronted by Daniel Whitehall, who slapped a small device on her right hand that instantly paralyzed her. He gave her forty-eight hours to deliver the Obelisk to him or he would kill her. Raina visited Skye's father, asking to borrow the Obelisk, but he refused. Upon hearing of Whitehall's involvement, he started to lose control and nearly strangled her. Raina then heads for Whitehall's headquarters, only to spot Jemma Simmons walking out of the building. Spying on her, she deduced that Simmons was a S.H.I.E.L.D. mole and tipped off Hydra of the mole's presence. She also called Coulson and asked to meet. She threatened to blow Simmons' cover if he did not allow her to take Skye to meet her father. However, Coulson allows her cover to be blown, as Bobbi Morse extracted Simmons. Having lost her leverage, Raina is injected with a tracker by Lance Hunter and forced to admit that Skye's father has the Obelisk. After giving Coulson his location, she is sent away to lure Whitehall into a trap, though Coulson added that he didn't care if she survives the outcome. Raina went into hiding in Vancouver to escape Hydra. Agent 33 found her while she was still disguised as Agent May, but Billy and Sam Koenig, two S.H.I.E.L.D. agents that had been tailing her, protected her from the Hydra operatives looking for her. Skye, May, Hunter, and Triplett went to Vancouver to retrieve her and the Koenigs. Raina opened up to Skye, and started talking about her father and how she was able to touch the Diviner. As they were getting away, their plane was surrounded by Hydra's jets, and Grant Ward boarded the plane to retrieve Raina. She turned herself over, but Ward made a second request and asked for them to turn over Skye or Hydra would shoot them down. Skye refused, but, with Raina's help, she eventually handed herself over as well. Hydra brought Raina and Skye to their location in Puerto Rico, where they were using a plasma drill to tunnel into the mysterious city the Diviner was leading them to. When S.H.I.E.L.D. assaulted Hydra's location to prevent them from entering the city, Raina used the chaos to enter the city on her own with the Diviner to see what she would become. She made her way to the temple at the center of the city with the help of Alphonso "Mack" Mackenzie, who had been possessed by the city into becoming its protector. Before she could place the Diviner on a pedestal, she was confronted by Skye, who threatened to shoot her if she did not hand over the device. However, the Diviner activated as it became attracted to on the pedestal, causing the walls of the temple to start moving to trap her, Skye, and Triplett inside. The Obelisk opened up to reveal a crystal inside, and it released a strange mist. Raina and Skye's bodies started turning to stone, so Triplett smashed the crystal to save his fellow S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. However, by the time he destroyed the crystal, Raina and Skye had been completely petrified, and Trip, because he came into contact with the crystal, began to turn to stone as well. However, the stone covering Raina and Skye's bodies started to shed, revealing their changed forms. Raina emerged from her cocoon covered in short barbs. Terrigenesis Raina was disappointed with her transformation, to say the least. Her skin had paled, her eyes had turned yellow, her hair was gone, and she was covered in sharp thorns. She thought she was hideous, and, as she was unaccustomed to having these thorns, she would cut herself when she moved. She tracked down Calvin before either of them could leave Puerto Rico, and demanded he help her reverse her transformation. She felt particularly betrayed since she had wanted to undergo this transformation all her life, while Skye hadn't sought to change, and yet Skye was as beautiful as she had ever been. Calvin, however, was ecstatic that his daughter had undergone Terrigenesis, and he couldn't care less about Raina. When Raina announced that she didn't want to live like this any more, Calvin callously told her not to. Without anywhere else to turn, Raina tried to commit suicide by walking across a busy highway. Instead of being mowed down by the traffic however, some vehicles halted nearby and disgorged a squad of armed men who then told her to accompany them. She instead gave them an ultimatum: they could either kill her, or she would force them to. Before any fighting broke out, Raina was surrounded by a bubble of blue light, and a person without any eyes appeared before her. He called her beautiful, grabbed her, and promised to show her the way, before they teleported away. Gordon brought Raina to the Inhumans' sanctuary in China. Later on, he brought Skye, who subsequently discovered Raina's presence and confronted her. The two women got into an argument to the point where Skye turned her seismic powers on Raina and might have killed her had not Jiaying intervened. After obtaining Jiaying's assurances that she could leave after a few days if she couldn't be trained in use of her powers, Skye left Raina alone. Raina was cared for by Gordon. While Gordon was tending to the thorns protruding from her head, she lost patience and demanded to know why she would have to stay in Afterlife. Gordon told her that it was far too dangerous for her to remain in public, although he said that once they had discovered her gift, he would be willing to take her anywhere in the world she wished to go. Gordon tried to comfort her to telling her of his own experiences of losing his eyes to the mist. Lincoln Campbell also tried to offer her comfort, and Raina told him about her detailed dreams of Skye having dinner with flowers and being so happy. When Campbell witnessed Skye and her family having dinner, with all the details mentioned by Raina, he realized that Raina could predict the future. Raina herself soon became aware of her abilities after she had a vision of Gordon returning to Afterlife with a head injury; moments after having this vision, it proved true as Gordon had a grueling encounter with HYDRA while trying to find Lincoln Campbell. Raina also experienced other premonitions, such as Skye rescuing Campbell from hostile forces. She told Skye of this, but Skye was initially doubtful of Raina's clairvoyance, until Raina revealed another piece of her vision where she saw Skye and Grant Ward working together. Having encountered Phil Coulson and Ward working together prior to returning to Afterlife, Skye realized Raina's visions were in fact accurate and convinced Gordon to take her to S.H.I.E.L.D. so she could find Campbell. Soon after, Raina was visited by Jiaying, who scolded Raina for convincing Skye to run off into danger. Unmoved, Raina scoffed at Jiaying's belief that she had some form of power over her, and questioned why Jiaying believed she should be in charge. Before things could get more tense, however, Raina was suddenly hit by another vision. Clairvoyant With her new found power now under her control, Raina began to work as a fortune teller for the people of Afterlife, telling one man that his son would go through Terrigenesis and come out with magnificent powers on the other side. She was visited by Gordon and they began discussing her power, with Raina finally accepting it was a gift. Raina told Gordon that she had had a vision of a strange stone which transformed into liquid. Gordon was immediately horrified and seemed to know this stone. She and Gordon teleported onto the Iliad and began searching for the Stone, as Raina informed him that they needed to find a red door. They were forced to hide when Bobbi Morse and Melinda May almost found them. As they continued to explore the ship, they discussed their powers and the effect they had on the people of Afterlife. Raina began asking why Jiaying put so few people through Terrigenesis when they were discovered by Lance Hunter, Gordon teleported them away but Hunter was able to trigger the alarm. Soon afterwards they located the Kree Stone and witnessed it going from solid to liquid in seconds. When they were discovered by Morse and May, Gordon teleported them off the ship and back to Afterlife. Back at Afterlife, Gordon and Raina informed Jiaying and Calvin Zabo of what they had found on the Iliad. Although Gordon insisted that Zabo should not be present, Zabo insisted that he should as his daughter was still at S.H.I.E.L.D.. When Zabo started to lose his temper, Raina tried to calm his mind but this only angered Zabo more. Zabo turned his attention to Raina and began claiming that she was putting on an act and was likely making up many of her visions to cause chaos. Jiaying managed to calm the situation and assured them that she would not allow S.H.I.E.L.D. to bring down their civilisation. Raina later had another vision and ran to inform Gordon. She explained that she had seen that S.H.I.E.L.D. was coming to Afterlife, and Quinjets would rain fire down upon them and burn Afterlife to the ground. When he went to inform Jiaying, she insisted that he could not as it started when she met with S.H.I.E.L.D., he asked who it should be if not Jiaying and Raina suggested that it should be her. When Gordon returned to her room, Raina asked him where he had taken Jiaying, but it way quickly revealed that he had in fact told her everything and brought her with him to arrest Raina. Jiaying told her that she had been using her powers to manipulate the people around her. Raina insisted that she was trying to save the people of Afterlife but no one would listen, she was locked in her room to await her fate. After her visions came true and Afterlife was seemingly attacked by S.H.I.E.L.D., Skye came into Raina's room to confront her, demanding to know what happens next. Raina told her that even if she did tell Skye the truth, she would not believe her. She began telling Skye that their lives and their destinies were intertwined from the very beginning. She told her that she had had a vision telling her the truth, knowing that Skye would never believe it, that her own destiny was to help Skye fulfill hers. When Skye stormed out, Raina told her they would never speak again, and Jiaying was misleading her people and it was Skye's destiny to lead the Inhumans. Death Raina met with Jiaying that night on a bridge to discuss the recent events. Jiaying told Raina that she was feeling better and apologised for not believing her, Raina explained that she had not foreseen Jiaying getting injured. When Jiaying offered to make Raina an advisor, Raina revealed that as a child her dream was to led the Inhumans. She told Jiaying that she had seen the future, including Jiaying's plan to wipe out the humans, when Jiaying asked if the plan would succeed she revealed that the key to success or failure was Skye. When Raina told her that she planned to reveal her plans, Jiaying stabbed her in the neck, causing Raina to bleed to death. Seconds before she died however, Raina saw Skye had witnessed her mother killing her, resulting in Skye joining forces with S.H.I.E.L.D. in the war to stop Jiaying.

Abilities
  • Persuasion: Raina is extremely persuasive and is highly skilled at making people think that what they want is what she wants or would ever have or hope yet to happen. She uses this skill as key to consciously get inside people's heads whether it be by mood, emotion, sense of direction, perception, choice making even strength of will. This ability was key in the plans of the Clairvoyant, who made her the Centipede Project's recruiter. Unlike Lorelei, whose enchantment is magical in nature, Raina's persuasive skills and high charisma come from sounding sympathetic, caring and sincere about what her mark desires until it ultimately becomes what she desires. An example of this was her persuasion of Phil Coulson into using the Theta Brain-Wave Frequency Machine. Those who have studied her methods, such as Daniel Whitehall, do not allow her to talk in order to stay ahead of her. Raina is also gifted at convincing people into believing anything she says, doing things that may have a risky effect, or into doing things for her favor though this is most likely due to accurate and relevant information she brings out that comes into place. Gifted Intellect: Raina can quickly determine the best words, thoughts and ideas to say to help her situation for any case; she uses her intellect either scientifically, psychologically or persuasively to get what she wants done. She uses her gift to trick and deceive people, to buy or sell out other people for what she can get out of them or their properties and for her well being even for the purpose of nothing phasing her in her path. She is also very proficient at operating secret agencies and a high tech facility and great at her ability to direct and instruct her operative workers or subordinates. Raina also seems to be skilled at creating strategies and at tactical analysis seeking out plans ahead of time even recognizing and correcting the slightest flaws and mistakes in transactions unnoticeable. Expert Scientist: Raina was one of the creators of the Centipede Serum and was instrumental in creating an army of Centipede Soldiers. She was able to view a blood sample of Skye and learned her relationship with both Calvin Zabo and herself. Raina's research allowed her subordinates to create a vial of artificial GH.325 while Jemma Simmons could not, due to lack of resources. Raina even had answers about the carbine, the Gravitonium with assistance from John Garrett, the Extremis serum with the help of Debbie and even the Diviner. She is very knowledgeable in fields of science such as physics, chemistry, biology, anatomy and medicine. Bilingualism: Upon meeting Scorch for the first time, she understood him though he spoke in Chinese.

Powers
  • Raina is an Inhuman who achieved her genetic potential after undergoing Terrigenesis and gained superhuman abilities. Her transformation seems to be mainly physical, as her outward appearance has been altered drastically becoming animal-like and covering her with quills and thorns. Her new form is also apparently uncomfortable for her, as her insides feel malformed. Enhanced Strength: Raina's new physiology has granted her enhanced strength to a high degree. She was able to grab and disable different scientists, killing them. She was also able to hold Calvin Zabo by the throat; however, her strength was not equal to his after she angered him. Superhuman Durability: Raina's new form has enhanced her natural durability, as she was unaffected by multiple confirmed gunshot hits from Jemma Simmons. Quill Protrusion: Raina's upper body, such as her face, head, and hands, is coated with black sharp thorns that are able to cut any type of solid flesh. Zabo slammed Raina on the ground and cut himself from the top layers of the thorns on her head. Claw Protrusion: Raina's fingernails have morphed into curled talons that were sharp enough to rip through a man's throat even when he was wearing a hazmat suit. Precognitive Dreaming: Raina has the gift of seeing future events through dreams. She accurately described before it occured that Skye would be happily having dinner with Calvin Zabo.
