Lesuk played junior hockey for the Weyburn Red Wings (a Detroit Red Wings farm team) from 1963-67, Before he even finished his junior career, he was traded to the Boston Bruins in 1966. The Bruins were deep at centre so Lesuk played mostly in the minors. He did play enough for the Bruins to win the Stanley Cup in 1970. The Philadelphia Flyers picked him up in the waiver draft in 1970. Lesuk enjoyed two decent seasons there before being traded to the Los Angeles Kings in 1972. After several low-scoring years, Lesuk was traded to the expansion Washington Capitals in 1974. In 1975 Lesuk joined the Winnipeg Jets of the World Hockey Association. He played there for four seasons and enjoyed his best pro seasons. He stayed with the Jets as they joined the National Hockey League in 1979. That was his final season as he retired in 1980. He played in 388 NHL games and scored 44 goals and 63 assists.
