Fire Chomps are enemies in the Mario series that have appeared in Super Mario Bros. 3, New Super Mario Bros. and New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Fire Chomps usually appear in levels in the sky-themed worlds. They hover in the air and when they see Mario, they start chasing him. The Fire Chomps have tails made of four fire balls, and sometimes they spit these at Mario to attack him. When all fire balls have been used, Fire Chomps will try to defeat Mario by blowing themselves up. This will kill them, but they can also be defeated by simply jumping on them, which can be risky due to the small platforms in sky-worlds.

In Super Mario 64 DS, it replaces the Fire Spitter and can only be defeated by Yoshi by eating it and he blows fire, like eating a Pyro Guy.
