abstract
  • Drake Ralion was a smuggler who was active during the New Republic era. He transported various restricted weapons and personal shielding devices from worlds in which they were freely allowed to the black market of worlds and locations where they were more heavily restricted or prohibited. His transport ship was the Hadron Boson, a YV-666 light freighter. In 20 ABY, Drake was harassed by a New Republic ship after picking up a shipment of ionic destabilizers. He dropped the cargo and fired it towards a star, where it would not be retrieved, but he now owed thirty thousand credits for the loss of his cargo. A price of twenty thousand credits was placed on his capture, and he could not gather the funds to pay either the price or his original debt. In desperation, he sold the Hadron Boson for the sum of fifteen thousand credits - all he could get for it on short notice, and he needed the money badly enough to accept the ridiculously low offer - and used the money to pay off part of his debt. He did light security work on Nal Hutta to try to earn enough money to pay off the rest of it, and took up sabacc to turn his small pay into more credits. Early in 21 ABY, he was able to win another five thousand credits, and he won back his ship. With most of his debt paid, he planned to retain the ship and take another small job to earn the rest of it, but he was captured by Ingvor Gord before he could get away from Nal Hutta. Drake was prepared to kill Ingvor, but she ducked out of the way of his first shot and returned one of her own. Although her blaster fire was too weak to penetrate his protective armor, she'd made a fairly precise shot over his heart, and he sensed that a firefight might be dangerous. In truth, Ingvor, the twin sister of Jedi Knight Zekk of Ennth, had some latent Force ability and had been using it in small ways without knowing it. Drake demanded to be let go and to be allowed to keep the contents of the ship, which included small amounts of medical supplies and other items that could be sold at a profit, and Ingvor agreed to it as long as she kept the ship itself. Drake paid off the remainder of his debt and had his bounty retracted, and eventually he procured another ship and returned to smuggling.
