Champion Spalding Chase (March 20, 1820–November 3, 1898) was a Nebraska politician. Born in Cornish, New Hampshire, he went on to teach in Amsterdam, New York. He studied law. He moved to Wisconsin and served in the Wisconsin State Senate, and the Racine, Wisconsin Board of Education. Chase served as a paymaster and was commissioned colonel during the American Civil War.

  • Champion Spalding Chase (March 20, 1820–November 3, 1898) was a Nebraska politician. Born in Cornish, New Hampshire, he went on to teach in Amsterdam, New York. He studied law. He moved to Wisconsin and served in the Wisconsin State Senate, and the Racine, Wisconsin Board of Education. Chase served as a paymaster and was commissioned colonel during the American Civil War. Chase moved to Nebraska where he became the state's first attorney general, serving from 1867 to 1869. He was a member of the University of Nebraska board of regents from 1869 to 1875. He was elected four times to the position of mayor of Omaha, Nebraska. In 1886 he was unanimously chosen president of the Nebraska State Humane Society. Chase County, Nebraska and the unincorporated community of Champion, Nebraska that rides within Chase County are named after him.
