  • Latveria is an East European country ruled by Doctor Doom.
  • Ned Cecil refered to it as Von Doom's "old country" and suggested he return to it after the board of directors pulls out of his company. The plaque on his trademark mask identifies it as a gift from the people of Latervia and after his battle with the the Fantastic Four and his apparent death, Von Doom is shipped back there in a shipping container.
  • Latveria is a fictional nation ruled by Dr. Doom in Eastern Europe in the Marvel Universe. This nation was created by an annex from Hungary, and possibly Serbia, centuries before Victor Von Doom took over in his "forced Monarchy."
  • Latveria first appeared in Fantastic Four Annual #1, published in 1962. Doctor Doom|Victor von Doom]] is the ruler of Latveria. • Latveria is located between the nations of Hungary, Serbia, and Romania. Surrounded by the Carpathians to the north and the Malhela range to the south, Latveria has remained protected from the strife of neighbouring countries. Its current reigning monarch, Sebastian von Doom, has kept the nation protected from international affairs and economic downturns. Doom's personal patents in the field of high technology and specially robotics are the main export of the country. The population consists of mixed European stock and gypsies, in whose welfare von Doom takes a particular interest. The country has doubled in size in both population and territory since its successful invasion of the neighboring country Symkaria.
  • Latveria was populated by members of every wave of invading non-Indo-European barbaric hordes too stupid or lazy not to move on to Hungary. It has been suggested that the population is "Finno-Latvic," but this is of course an insult to the Finnish people (who nonetheless display the same kind of twisted and evil technological genious of Latveria's favorite son, Victor von Doom). Latverians are considered by most cultural anthropoplogist to be the only nation of people actually improved by an influx of Gypsies. It was Christianized when the Germanic Cross-Brethren, who uniquely fought using only gigantic wooden crosses, defeated the native Latverians (who had not yet invented fire and were thus helpless against wooden technology; the Gypsies, completely civilized and much wiser than the nat
  • Called "the jewel of the Balkans," Latveria is a strong, self-sufficient country that seldom interacts with its neighbors; the country's motto is "We master all that lies before." For over 600 years, Latveria was ruled by the Haasen bloodline, based from Haasenstadt (now Doomstadt). Latveria was originally founded in the 14th century in territory captured from Transylvania by Rudolfo and Karl Haasen. Rudolfo was the first king of Latveria, but after the death of Karl Haasen III in 1447, Vlad Draasen ascended to the throne, and his difficult rule divided the country until 1544, when the Bolgorad Treaties finally restored the Haasen bloodline to the throne. In 1588, King Stefan I and Count Sabbat began construction of a castle (now Castle Doom), and a second was constructed in 1593 (now the
