- Leroy Jethro Gibbs (AKA Gunnery Sergeant Alvin Thomas or Leland Robert Spears) is a former Gunnery Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps who is now an NCIS Special Agent assigned to the Navy Yard in Washington D.C. and who is also the current leader of the main NCIS Major Case Response Team.
- Gibbs also led the investigation into the murder of Lt. Loren Singer and at first, originally suspected that Harmon Rabb Jr. was Singer's before realizing that Harm was being framed.
- Weight Eye color Leroy Jethro Gibbs is a fictional character from the NCIS television series by CBS Television. He is portrayed by Mark Harmon.
- Gibbs has worked at NCIS for nearly two decades. He joined NCIS (then the NIS) in 1992 as a Junior Agent. He was typically referred to by his boss, Mike Franks, as "Probie" or "Gunny", a reference to his military rank of Gunnery Sergeant, something that continues to this day. Gibbs rose through the ranks until he was put in charge of the Major Case Response Team. He is often referred to as "Boss" or other humorous variations thereof by the members of his team.
- Like Forensic Scientist Abigail Sciuto, Gibbs has a strong addiction to coffee and is a former Marine, retiring with the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. He is also a former Marine Scout Sniper, a skill that regularly comes in handy. In "Legend Part 1" and "Legend Part 2", Gibbs along with Special Agent Timothy McGee headed to the Office of Special Projects to investigate the death of a Marine. Gibbs is also friends with New: Orleans agent Dwayne Pride.
