Burrower grenade rockets were a military innovation of the Tetrarchy of Mezlagob. Designed for capital ship combat, they originated with a simple design. When used against unshielded vessels, the rockets would accelerate until impact with the enemy ship's hull. Their pointed nosecones revolved like drill bits, burrowing through the hull into the corridors inside. Once through, the nosecones opened like flowers, releasing grenades into the ship's interior. Aside from the damage caused by the detonation itself, the explosion usually propelled the rockets back out into space, leaving a gaping hole open to vacuum.

abstract
  • Burrower grenade rockets were a military innovation of the Tetrarchy of Mezlagob. The initial theory behind the rockets was simply that explosives would do more damage inside ships, rather than having to waste destruction power destroying the ship's hull like conventional proton torpedos and concussion missiles. Over time, however, the Tetrarchy military made further innovations. * Burrower contaminant rockets operated on principles identical to traditional grenade rockets, but released toxic chemicals or biological or chemical weapons into ships instead of grenades. This was often used when enemy ships were likely to escape, as it could wipe out the entire crew anyway, or if the Tetrarchy wished to take an enemy ship intact. * Burrower drone rockets released suicide remotes into ships which, rather than simply blowing up wherever the rocket had impacted like traditional grenades, would see out higher-priority targets elsewhere in the ships. Burrower grenade rockets and their subvariants were standard issue aboard Echidna-class command cruisers and were often found on Hydra-class cruisers as well. After the Great Liberation, Tariun Sakaros had a small number of BGR rocket launchers added to the Sith Star
