But despite the added area, the Southeast Pacific did not live up to expectations, with 11 Depressions, 8 Named Storms, 6 Cyclones, and 2 Major Cyclones. The season officially started on October 17 with the Formation of Hurricane Natanael and ended on April 4 with the dissipation of Tropical Storm Jacquelyn.

The season officially started on October 17 with the Formation of Hurricane Natanael and ended on April 4 with the dissipation of Tropical Storm Jacquelyn. The Southeast Pacific Basin is tracked by the JTWC and the newly formed SpAC Cyclone Center, which is a agreement formed between Chile, Ecuador, Peru, France, and the United States to track the storms together in a joint operation operated from Lima, Santiago, Quito, Easter Island and Apia.
