The disease nullifies the ability of a human's skin pigment to protect the body from the Sun's harmful UV rays, which can lead to death by radiation. The only known sufferers of the disease were ace pilot Rena Hirose and Dr. Anthony Silverstone, the latter of whom the disease is named after.

The only known sufferers of the disease were ace pilot Rena Hirose and Dr. Anthony Silverstone, the latter of whom the disease is named after. The disease is similar in nature to Xeroderma pigmentosum (XP), an actual skin disease that prevents the skin from repairing damage caused by UV rays. It is not known if the symptoms of Silverstone Disease include blistering of the skin, which is one symptom of XP.
