During the Third World War, Vladivostok was bombarded on the orders of American general Douglas MacArthur. The city took some damage, but came out mostly intact. During the Cold War, Vladivostok was a major naval base in the Pacific, with a fleet at ready in case of an invasion of Japan. This invasion was not needed. During the Fourth World War, Vladivostok was shelled on the orders of Takeo Hiranuma. Again, the city survived.
