SHI are infantry units that fills the heavy direct fire role of the human armed forces. They were originally conceived to replace the armored cars (tanks and APCs) due to their agility and adaptability on alien worlds. Development was rushed when the Ki'sa Wars started. Lightweight rexium armor development spurred its production and development. They are supplemented with heavy armored infantry (human size infantry). Today, SHIs are considered a key component of modern armies. Modern SHIs operate alone, as they are organized into armored units which involve the support of heavy infantry. They are also often supported by surveillance or ground-attack aircraft. Due to its general difficult handling and big weight, they are introduced to the battlefield from high altitudes, and in some cases from orbit for fast and safe deployment. SHI are able to wield a multitude of weaponry and possess the ability to dash, sprint, and sidestep. SHI are also capable of melee attacking without the use of a special weapon and can rip the pilot out of armored units.
