Longpark is a housing estate in the north west of Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire. It was built in the 1930s and consisted mainly of cottage flats and houses but fell into a sharp decline after the war and it was amde a priority area in the late 1970s. Of its 630 houses only 7% were bought by 1990 and a massive 92% were unemployed. In the same year it was listed as one of the thirty most deprived areas in Scotland.
