One of the best bits of news of 2010 has arrived this morning as Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison has revealed that Slipknot have begun writing for a new album and are hoping to record in the first half of 2011. Speaking to Billboard, Jordison has said: “It’s already in motion, It’s definitely exciting. It’s a little emotional, of course, but I think it’s going to be really, really cool and I think it’s gonna be a really, really great record because everyone’s really involved in the process.” Speaking further about the band’s live plans, Jordison confirmed that they are not to replace Paul Gray and the current plan is to use a bassist who will not perform onstage with the band. “We’ll have a bass player that’s right next to me, to the right behind the stage, to lock in with me,” says Jordison. “But there’s no one right now who will go on stage.” Recent updates suggest that Joey did not fully consult other band members about what he said, resaulting in some, including Corey, not agreeing with what Joey was saying, Corey also stated that he "Will not be recording a Slipknot album anytime soon". Slipknot will be playing Sonisphere 2011 in the UK next year, which hints towards a possible come back. Note: Donnie Steele (former guitarist) will be filling in for Paul Gray for the Summer.
