King's earliest use of the novelist as a character occurred in his next novel, 'Salem's Lot, when writer Ben Mears returned to his hometown of Jerusalem's Lot, Maine. King would continue this pattern of the protagonist being a writer with Jack Torrance in The Shining and Paul Sheldon in Misery.

  • Writers are the members of staff at Sonic the Comic and Sonic the Comic Online who write the scripts that will go on to become strips within the comic. Compared to the number of artists, writers were few to help continuity. Nevertheless, many non-Sonic comics had separate writers who didn't write any lead Sonic the Hedgehog strips.

Poetry then went underground, often hiding in caves and plague pits, emerging only to terrorise commuters on dimly lit tube stations. One particularly famous incident involved Winston Churchill, who was once on his way home after a good night out on the piss, and was notoriously verbally-bashed by two haikus and three ophaned couplets written in iambic pentameter, skulking about the shadows in Liverpool Street station. Compared to the number of artists, writers were few to help continuity. Nevertheless, many non-Sonic comics had separate writers who didn't write any lead Sonic the Hedgehog strips. Alan McKenzie wrote the very first story to appear in STC, but Mark Millar would be the first to become a regular writer. Nigel Kitching appeared in Issue 4 and would soon become one of two lead writers with Lew Stringer. Kitching was sacked towards the end of STC's life but would be reinstated as solo writer for the final Sonic Adventure story arc.

(TNG: "Time's Arrow, Part II" ; DS9: "The Wire", "Facets", "The Visitor", "The Muse", "You Are Cordially Invited") Petrarch (or Francesco Petrarca) was an Italian writer on Earth during the 14th century. (VOY: "Concerning Flight") Jake Sisko chose to become a writer instead of joining Starfleet like his father. Starting with poetry, Jake soon developed a fondness and talent for writing. He started at least two works; the novel Anslem, and the short story "Past Prologue". In 2373, Jake joined the Federation News Service as a war correspondent, remaining on Deep Space 9 while it was under Dominion control. (DS9: "The Abandoned", "The Muse", "The Ascent", "Call to Arms") Newspaper and magazine writers served under an editor, who was responsible for the contents of the publication. An editor would give assignments to writers, and then in turn review the writers' works, make suggestions for changes, and compile these works for distribution. In 2374, Captain Benjamin Sisko experienced a vision from the Bajoran Prophets, in which he served as a writer for the Incredible Tales of Scientific Wonder, along with Herbert Rossoff, Julius Eaton, Kay Eaton and Albert Macklin. One of King's most notorious uses of the writer was Thaddeus Beaumont and his alter-ego George Stark, a concept that was inspired by King's own experience writing as, and being revealed to be, Richard Bachman. King's fictional writers tend to encounter bizarre and horrific situations with unnatural frequency. Authors created by King have encountered haunted hotels and hotel rooms, vampires, their own psychotic fans, alien spacecraft, possessed paintings, parallel realities, vicious scenes of domestic abuse, and even characters of their own creation.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________

This period is often seen as the Golden Age of British Poetry, and gave rise to such famous works as Philip Larkin's "My Gran's a C*nt" and The Sex Pistols' "I just want to grow a Daffodil". Other famous poetry writers include Julie Birchill, Mumm-Ra and Kevin Keegan. Some people think that Andrew Motion and Wendy Cope are poets, but these people probably spend most of their time dribbling and thinking that McDonalds burgers are actual food.
