  • Alan Digby was the fourth editor of the Beano comic, succeeding Euan Kerr on his retirement in 2006. He was previously Kerr's Chief Sub-Editor. Digby, who joined DC Thomson in 1970, was a previous editor of another of their comics, which was Beezer. His young daughter Jane was also the inspiration for a long-running Beano strip, Ivy the Terrible.

Digby, who joined DC Thomson in 1970, was a previous editor of another of their comics, which was Beezer. His young daughter Jane was also the inspiration for a long-running Beano strip, Ivy the Terrible. Digby's tenure was incredibly short-lived, unlike the first three editors who have all had periods of at least two decades in 68 years of the Beano comic, as he quit the post in February 2011 after nearly just five years as Editor. He was succeeded by Michael Stirling, who was editor for just one year.
