Sunkit stretched lazily across the warm rocks, and let the warmth of a Greenleaf morning seep into his fur. Purring, he snuggled farther into the crannies of the rock. "Sunkit!" Cinderheart called anxiously. Sunkit perked his ears, but didn't turn toward the sound. He was far to comfortable in this moment of peace. But abruptly, he realized his mother was panicked. Sunkit turned abruptly, and leaped back in horror as an adder's jaws snapped back right where he had been. Sunkit's eyes met the adder's and suddenly, they both froze. The adder stared into his eyes intensely, and Sunkit wondered if this was soem sort of trick adder's used on prey. But the adder's eyes stared, pleading. Sunkit realized what he had to do.
