The Court Usher carried out his duties at the trial of Elsie Tanner when she appeared on charges of stealing from her employers, Miami Modes, in November 1969. The true culprit was her old friend Dot Greenhalgh. After hearing the evidence, the case was dismissed due to insufficient evidence. Two years later he also officiated when Jerry Booth appeared in court of a charge of assaulting Stan Ogden's friend Jim Stoker. In this instance, Jerry was found guilty and given a conditional discharge for twelve months.
