  • Coeurl is an enemy present in Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl. It is the main boss of Gladsheim AREA I, fought in a dark room alongside two Carmine Beaks. It can only be fought in the story mode. This creature, vaguely resembling a large black panther, uses its agility and strength to great effect during fights. Being able to deliver lightning fast strikes and even put its prey to sleep, it is a great threat to the Highlander's party as they explore Gladsheim, searching for a terminal mentioned by Frederica.
  • The Coeurl originates from the science fiction short story "Black Destroyer" by A.E. Van Vogt (published in Astounding magazine, July 1939). The short story was later included as part of a compilation work, The Voyage of the Space Beagle (1950), with 3 other short stories by Van Vogt. It was depicted as a sentient alien panther-like creature with tentacles and psionic capabilities that resided on a planet that houses the ruins of ancient cities. The Coeurl has appeared in Final Fantasy II, IV, VII, VIII, IX, X, X-2, XI, XII and Crystal Chronicles.
  • The coeurl resembles a big cat, only with hairless black skin, clusters of antennae instead of ears, and two spiked prehensile tentacles growing from its shoulders. Its forelegs are longer than its hind legs. Coeurls are not native to Golarion, and are speculated to have arrived via portals between planets. They feed on an unidentified energy called id that they harvest from their prey. Although coeurls are intelligent and telepathic, they are not particularly communicative.
  • Coeurl is a fictional alien race of predators created by the late science fiction novelist A. E. van Vogt (1912-2000) and featured in his first published short story "Black Destroyer" (1939), later incorporated in the novel The Voyage of the Space Beagle (1950). Its resemblance is comparable to a large cat, except that its forelegs are twice as long as its hind legs, and it possesses tentacles (most likely two) attached to its shoulders. These tentacles terminate in suction cups. Its skin coloration is not mentioned, but it may be inferred from the title of the story that it is black. It sustains itself by feeding upon a substance it calls the Id of other beings, which is not related to the Freudian concept but is actually organic phosphorus, most probably as the phosphate groups bound in
  • The Coeurls have the appearance of a black panther, but with its forelimbs longer than its hind limbs, and a couple of long tentacles protruding from its shoulders. Each tentacle ends in suction cups that allow it to manipulate tools. In the place the ears would be there is instead two tufts of whiskers, which can receive and transmit radio waves with which the creature communicates.
