Cidolfus Demen Bunansa or Dr. Cid is a genius scientist who co-made the Archadian Empire, he is the mastermind behind the electronics in The Army of the MCP. However, Cid's inventions are mere experimentations made during the pursuit of a greater power source, and a greater end than mere world conquest. He only takes orders from the MCP and gives orders to every single member of the Archadian Empire. He is about 58 years old, but still knows his way around fighting. Not much is known about Cid's life before the events of Archadian Reign. He fathered three sons, one named Daumey Ench Bunansa (Human body, fakegee abilities and organs), one named Ffamran mied Bunansa (aka Balthier) and one named Cidolfus Redin Bunansa (dead). His best friend is the MCP.

At one point the party speculates Cid's plan was simply to grant the power of nethicite, deifacted or manufacted, to the nations of Ivalice and witness what happened when they clashed, as happened in Final Fantasy XII and the years prior to the game's beginning. At Pharos at Ridorana, Cid alludes that he plans to use the power of nethicite to become a god-like being, and temporarily takes power from the Sun-Cryst to battle the party. Thus Cid's ultimate goal may have been to betray and/or usurp Vayne and rule Ivalice himself, in addition to overthrowing the favored nations of the Occuria. Despite their estrangement, Cid does still care for Balthier and alludes to have been wishing for Balthier to share in the power Cid was seeking, before he fled to become a sky pirate.

Cid spricht sich dafür aus, dass Geschichte wieder von Menschenhand geschrieben werden müsse anstatt von den Occuria – das originäre Ziel des Venat. Er bemerkt also nicht, dass er fremdgesteuert wird.
