The Temple of the Winding Stream was in 1170 one of the most recently constructed temples in Rokugan, and was the repository for the Crane Clan's martial art of mizu-do. It stood in the middle of a lake in Kakita lands for added security, since the Crane did not wish to have their clan secrets known anyone outside the clan. The temple was founded by Kakita Shinko when she retired from acting. No monks ever left the temple, since the beauty of the landscape was enough to make anyone wish to stay for the remainder of their lives.
