- The First World War, also known as World War I, was a devastating war that broke out on the planet Earth in 1913. The cause of the war is attributed to the arrival of the Nemesis on Earth.
- First World War or WWI names the first of two, related global armed conflicts that raged in the first half of the 20th Century. The 1914-1918 struggle was waged between two rival alliances, the Central Powers and the Allied Powers. As was true of the Second World War, fighting actually began before the war is conventionally deemed to have begun.
- The American No-Maj Jacob Kowalski was a veteran of the First World War. He served in France as part of his country's Expeditionary Forces, and remained stationed there well after the conclusion of the war (presumably as part of a peace-keeping effort), returning to the United States in 1924. Due to his extended service, he was only able to find a menial job at a cannery in his post-war life, which lead to him being unable to secure the loan he needed to fulfil his dream of opening a bakery. Jacob's brother also served in the war but ultimately lost his life in the fighting.
