abstract
  • David Pierson was a professor of linguistics at the University of Chicago from 1919 to 1940, and was presumably one of the faculty who taught Indiana Jones. He kept in correspondence with Jones over the years, but eventually lost touch with his student-turned-colleague. In early 1936, he received contact from Jones regarding the whereabouts of Jones' old mentor, Abner Ravenwood. He wrote back to Jones in February, glad to have communications restored. He reported that he had communicated regularly with Ravenwood after Ravenwood had left the university, but had also later lost contact with him, and relied on rumors to inform Jones that Ravenwood might be in Nepal with his daughter.
