| HistoryText
| - Jack Jackson was a Royal Marine Commando who was aboard a British ship sunk by the Japanese in 1943. The sole survivor, Jack was rescued by the U.S Marines, and ended up serving with the unit who fished him out of the ocean for the duration of World War II after, due to a misunderstanding, he accidentally signed enlistment papers and became a U.S Marine himself! In theory, Jack was simply waiting for Washington to realize their error and discharge him, but that didn't stop him seeing a considerable amount of action and, along with his Irish-American sidekick O'Bannion, frequently saving his scornful gum chewing comrades from the consequences of their own arrogance with his trusty Lee Enfield rifle !

| Notes
| - Jackson was nicknamed 'Union Jack' after his comrades noticed that whenever he was supposed to be saluting the stars and stripes on parade, he was in fact surreptitiously saluting a miniature Union Jack on a piece of card concealed in his palm. Curiously, they allowed him to get away with this.
