Google News is one of Google's many searching services. It indexes the most up to date news stories from thousands of news sites. Google News was first created in 2002, and it stayed in beta for 3 years until 2006. Google uses it's own software to determine which sources are accurate and up to date. Some human editorial does apply to this as well. The actual list of sources that Google uses are not known outside of Google. Google has stated that they index news from over 4,500 sites.
