Reginald Hanson (31 May 1840 - 18 April 1905) was a businessman and Conservative Party politician. The son of Samuel Hanson of Epsom, Surrey, he was educated at Tonbridge and Rugby Schools and Trinity College, Cambridge, graduating BA in 1864 and MA in 1868. He joined the family firm of Hanson, Son and Barter, dealers in tea, coffee, fruit and spices of Botolph Lane in the City of London, rising to be the head of the company. He was a member of the Corporation of London, he was an alderman from 1880-1905 and was Sheriff of London in 1881-82 (when he was knighted) and Lord Mayor in 1886-87. He was created a baronet "of Bryanston Square in the County of Middlesex" in 1887. He was a member of the London School Board, representing the City of London, from 1882-85. At the first elections to the London County Council in 1889 he was elected as a Moderate Party councillor for Marylebone West. In 1891 he was elected as member of parliament for the City of London, holding the seat until 1900.
