Spell resistance is only checked the first time the sword of light strikes a creature while its spell resistance is up. If the caster level check to overcome spell resistance succeeds, it automatically succeeds every time the sword of light hits

If the caster level check to overcome spell resistance succeeds, it automatically succeeds every time the sword of light hits that particular creature (the cure serious wounds effect automatically bypasses spell resistance). If not, the sword of light is dispelled. The sword of light threatens a critical hit on a roll of 19-20, and if a critical hit is scored, twice as many hit points are restored (or, in the case of undead, twice as much damage is dealt) by the cure serious wounds effect. A sword of light also removes a single negative level from a creature with a successful attack (two on a critical hit). Anything that would prevent restoration spells from removing a negative level also prevents sword of light from removing negative levels. You cannot be attacked by your own sword of light. Material Component: A bastard sword or longsword, which is transformed into the sword of light by the spell's energy and is utterly evaporated when the spell expires or is dispelled.
