| - Stasis is the Illians' world spell. It is available right at the beginning of the game. When used, every civilization - except for the Illians - will have their research and production frozen. The amount of time in stasis scales based on game speed. On normal game speed, Stasis lasts for 20 turns.
- During starflight, if one did not want to endure the voyage awake, they could decide to go into stasis for the duration of the trip, to be reawoken as they arrived at the destination planet. Andrew and Valentine Wiggin used stasis invariably during their collective 3000-years of interstellar voyages.
- For more on using Stasis effectively, see the Adept Guide. On higher difficulty settings some powerful biotic enemies, like Rachni Brood Warriors, can put you and your squad into Stasis. Like Bastions, they can cause damage while their target is immobilized, and medi-gel doesn't seem to help. It also puts you at risk from any flying debris, because it becomes impossible to dodge and your shields won't take the damage. The only real defense against their Stasis is to hit the enemy with Damping, then take them down as fast as possible.
- Stasis causes players in the effective range of the caster, including the caster, to not be able to cast spells. Targets' VIT and DEX reduce the effect.
- Stasis is a form of technology present in the Red Dwarf universe. A major plot point of the franchise, stasis fields can essentially "freeze in time" people or cargo. This was useful for keeping people from dying of old age during long voyages in Deep Space, and keeping cargo fresh for even millions of years, and so most Space Corps and JMC spaceships, planetary bases and space stations had their own stasis booths.
(TOS: ; TNG: ; VOY: )
- Stasis primarily revolves around the use of hypersleep chambers, simple cots with glass lids inside which crew members "sleep" for a large part of the duration of long-haul interstellar flights. During this sleep, the crew are effectively shielded from the effects of time, experiencing nothing and growing no older as time outside the cryotube passes normally. Although essentially "frozen" in this state, people in hypersleep are still capable of dreaming; indeed, dreaming is actively encouraged and apparently consciously pursued as a means to preserve the individual's mental health throughout long periods in cryo. Owing to the way in which the processes of the human body are drastically slowed in hypersleep, these dreams can sometimes last for a year or more.
- Stasis is an ability and status effect in several installments. It appears as "Starsailor's Stasis" in Earth II, used by Gagarin (Checkhow in later versions), and as a character skill of Lawrence in Earth VII. In all its appearances, Stasis consists of putting an energy field around the target and rendering it totally immobile. As long as stasis is in place, the target's sprite will not animate, and it will not be selectable for command entry. On the other hand, it can no longer be targeted by any attack or effect, both positive or negative. Also, any continual effect statuses are halted while Stasis in in place (such as Poison or Regeneration). Since, normally, if all members of a party or of the enemy troop have been affected by the status, it will count as if all members have died, maki

- Stasis is one-third of the Metaphysic Trinity, along with Dynamism and Entropy. Stasis is the force of order and preservation, and is linked with science, technology, and language. Stasis is represented in the Triat by the Weaver - or perhaps Stasis represents the Weaver in the Metaphysic Trinity; the exact relationship isn't quite clear. Stasis has been affected by both the lucid madness of the Weaver and by the stifling Consensus that has been implemented by the Technocracy. Mages whose Avatars favor Stasis tend to have Pattern Essences. The Static Quiet is called Clarity.
- If used when referring to lifeforms, it was also known as suspended animation and denoted the limiting of bodily functions, inducing a prolonged sleep, in order to slow down the aging process. Most often this was accomplished through cryogenic stasis. The Arctic Archaeology Team scientist Doctor Moninger dismissed the suggestion to place the two Borg drones in cold storage what would interfere with his research. (ENT: "Regeneration") Croden placed his daughter Yareth in stasis in the 2360s. (DS9: "Vortex")
- Stasis is a Rare Instant Spell belonging to the File:Icon Sorcery.png realm. It may only be cast on the overland map for the base Casting Cost of File:Icon Mana.png , and must be targeted at an enemy unit or stack. Each unit in the targeted stack may not move during its controller's next turn. During the start of the next turn, each unit affected by Stasis may make a Resistance roll at File:Icon Resist.png to try to free itself. Success means the Stasis effect is removed from the unit and it may move freely again. Failure means the unit may not move during this turn, and the Stasis effect remains in place on that unit.
