| - Survivor: Gabon - Earth's Last Eden is a fanfic based on the seventeenth season of the CBS reality television series Survivor. The premiere aired December 28, 2008. It marks the first time that Survivor was shot in high definition, with Sony XDCAMs. Host Jeff Probst has stated that temptation and consequence will be major themes this season. Players sent to "Exile" (no longer Exile Island) will receive a clue to the whereabouts of a hidden Immunity Idol that is located back at their own camp. For the first time, exiled contestants will also have the option of taking comfort items to make their stay more enjoyable. If they do so, their entire tribe will be given a disadvantage at the next Immunity Challenge. After the merge, the Comfort twist remained, with players taking an individual disadvantage at the next Immunity Challenge if they opted for the comfort items. Episode 8 also included a completely new twist. On Day 19, both tribes went to Tribal Council. Host Jeff Probst offered the remaining castaways a bribe of $50,000 to leave the game. In the end, Corinne Kaplan took the bribe and snuffed out her own torch, removing herself from the game in one of the most controversial twists the show has ever seen. Survivor: Gabon marks the first time a castaway was blindsided while in possession of two hidden Immunity Idols. In Episode 6, Ace Gordon found the Fang tribe's idol after being given clues by Paloma Soto-Castillo and keeping it entirely for himself. In Episode 8, Corinne Kaplan secretly gave Ace her Kota's idol that she found during the previous episode. But in Episode 9, Ace was blindsided and did not play either of his idols at Tribal Council. The idols were then rehidden on Exile. Dan Kay was the next to find the idol when he was sent to Exile in Episode 10. He played the idol in the same episode, eliminating Ken Hoang, who had the second-highest number of votes. The idol was then rehidden again in Episode 11 and was discovered by Randy Bailey. Outraged by the loss of his ally Ken, Randy accomplished his long-time goal when he burned the idol but kept its remains in his possession, effectively eliminating it from the rest of the game. The idol was not subsequently rehidden. Survivor: Gabon marks the first time in Survivor history that the Final Three contestants were all men. In the end, maintenance man and aspiring rapper Danny "GC" Brown defeated Randy Bailey in a 4-3 vote. Danny "GC" Brown, Randy Bailey, Dan Kay, Crystal Cox and Ace Gordon returned to Survivor All Stars: Samoa where they placed 11th, 20th, 6th, 5th and 10th respectively. It's also been annouced that Dan Kay and Crystal Cox will return to compete in Survivor: Redemption Island.
