Bernie Johnston (born September 15, 1956 in Toronto, Ontario) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player. He played in 57 NHL games with the Hartford Whalers over parts of two seasons, scoring 12 goals and 24 assists. He played junior hockey with the Toronto Marlboros from 1973-76. He won the Memorial Cup in 1975 but injuries limited his playing time that year. Johnston got into 57 games with the Whalers over the next two seasons. The balance of his career was split between th minor pros and the National League A in Switzerland.

He played in 57 NHL games with the Hartford Whalers over parts of two seasons, scoring 12 goals and 24 assists. He played junior hockey with the Toronto Marlboros from 1973-76. He won the Memorial Cup in 1975 but injuries limited his playing time that year. He was not chosen in the NHL Entry Draft but was signed as a free agent by the Philadelphia Flyers. Despite a stellar year in 1978-79 in the American Hockey League he could not crack the Flyers lineup. Johnston was chosen by the Hartford Whalers in the 1979 NHL Expansion Draft. Johnston got into 57 games with the Whalers over the next two seasons. The balance of his career was split between th minor pros and the National League A in Switzerland. He retired in 1986 but came back in 1988-89 to play 11 games for the Maine Mariners. Johnston was the coach for the Landshut EV in 1994-95 and 1995-96. The next two seasons he coached the Frankfurt Lions. Both teams were in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga.
