Matthew Cunningham (d. 1945) was an American private stationed in Frankfurt, Germany after World War II. He was kidnapped by the German Freedom Front in late 1945 and forced to make a video in which he repeated the GFF's demands that the occupation forces must leave Germany. He added to this the information that he had been informed he would be executed if these demands were not met. Copies of the film were quickly circulated throughout Germany and soon the world. After publicity around Cunningham's plight was allowed to build for a short while, Cunningham's body was found near Regensberg.
