Uther’s father was presumably a knight or nobleman. His heritage is unknown. Towards the end of his life he presumably started to lose his mind, this repeated with his son, Uther Pendragon, who lost his mind after Morgana’s betrayal. Since it was revealed in a deleted scene only, it is unknown how relevant it is. It might be irrelevant since the scene that was used for the episode dismissed the suspected madness of Uther, assumingly inherited from his father, and focused on the enchantment only.
