Puerto Rico's first full-time wrestling organization, FREEDOM Caribbean Wrestling was created in 2007 by national hero Puerto Rican Power and his friend Shawn Gonzalez. With DAVE having gone out of business a few months earlier, the two had come to the conclusion that there was a new gap in the market as well as a substantial pool of talent. They had soon hired several of Shawn's ex-DAVE colleagues and students, a few faces from Rip Chord's MAW promotion, a smattering of luchadores, and a handful of workers from the independent scene. With a roster in place, FCW began doing business. The focus of the promotion is on a traditional type of wrestling, with strong characters helping draw fans to the arena to see the hard-hitting action.
