| - I Sangheili (in latino Macto Cognatus) sono una specie di feroci combattenti, estremamente accurati tatticamente e sono una delle due razze portanti e fondatrici dei Covenant, insieme ai Profeti. Il nome con cui gli umani li identificano (Elite) deriva dalle loro alte capacità in combattimento. Costituirono l'ossatura delle forze armate del Covenant per quasi tutta la sua esistenza.
