| - Two years after the Battle of Yavin, Commander Alec Trellian - head of Imperial Internal Affairs - started to suspect the Empire was a bit of a sinking ship. Having always been an independent-minded sort of chap, Alec left the Empire with his closest confidants - completely erasing any record of their existence - people and data alike. Alec used his contacts from being an Imperial, as well as many he'd built up investigating dodgy goings-on within the Empire, in his new venture - XII. XII started off as an information network, much like the Bothan SpyNet, but soon expanded into organized crime amongst the populated worlds of the Inner Rim. XII concentrates most of its resources on casinos, arms dealing and the sex trade, but is known to dabble in spice and other illegal substances. The only thing XII takes exception to is slavery and people trafficking - Alec believes it's more trouble than it's worth. XII uses its profits to expand its networks of spies and contacts around the galaxy and, using a talented cadre of ex-Imperial researchers liberated when Alec left the Empire, research and development. XII goes on to use the equipment for itself, and/or selling it to the highest bidder. The group maintains a group of ex-Imperial Special Forces as its combat arm. Additionally, it contracts in mercenary specialists to help with more complicated missions - including the late Rufus Elani and the Meek-Be-Nots. In the recent past, Alec was contacted by Reng Kasr, one of the only other ex-Imperials aware of Alec's existence. XII and Oremin arranged a limited alliance between the two organizations revolving around intelligence sharing and co-operation. XII was a shadow power of the Scoundrel's Alliance, a group that stood against the Death Star at Corellia. The group's rumoured flagship - the ISD Sui Juris - coordinated the SA's efforts at Corellia, keeping the pirates and rogues organized and informed. Since the Xen'Chi invasion of the known galaxy, it's been business as usual for XII. Any contacts in occupied areas were able to flee before the invaders arrived, and will be replaced whenever it's safe to do so.
