Rulango was a male heron who had been with Brogalaw's holt since he was a chick, never talking. When a resistance was formed by the hares of Salamandastron and Brog's otters against the Blue Hordes he acted as the eyes and ears of the Bark Crew, informing the allies of all the movements of the vermin. During the final attack on the firemountain, he created a diverson by dropping a burning torch on the horde ships. When Salamandastron was finally recaptured, he left along with Brog and his holt.
