  • The Banded Mail is the sixth shirt-type armor in the Body Armor class. It can be found in the Dungeon beginning on Level 32. Merchants may sell it to players who are at or above Level 11. It has a value of 13571 gold and a rarity of 900. It takes up 2 x 2 inventory space. The artifact version of Banded Mail is Beasthack.
  • Banded mail is a neologism, coined in the 19th century, describing a type of composite armor formed by combining the concepts behind the Roman lorica segmentata with splint mail. Its historicity is doubtful. It has become entrenched in the popular consciousness as a result of its inclusion in the armor list for Dungeons and Dragons.
  • Banded mail consists of a suit of chainmail reinforced with layers of metal plates arranged in strips along the suit’s midsection. Banded mail offers the same level of protection as chainmail while proving lighter and more flexible. Although the fluff says the wearer moves as quickly as one in leather armor, this is not reflected in the item statistics. It is heavy armor, and requires Armor Proficiency: Banded Mail to use properly.
