Heraclius VII of Diadochia also known as 'the Isaurian (715-22 July 771) was the Diadochian Emperor from 750 until his death in 771. Heraclius effectivly put an end to period of instability known as the Twenty Years of Anarchy, successfully defended the Empire against the invading muslim states, and forbade the veneration of icons, ushering in a century dominated by struggles between the supporters of icons called the iconodules or iconophiles and those against the use of icons called the iconoclasts, known as the Diadochian Iconoclasm.
