William "Bill" Gardner (born March 19, 1960 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada) is a retired Canadian ice hockey forward. Gardner started his National Hockey League career with the Chicago Blackhawks in 1981. He would spend his entire career with the Blackhawks except for 26 games he played for the Hartford Whalers. During his career, he scored 73 goals, 115 assists, 188 points in 380 games. His NHL career was over now and after some time in the minor pros Gardner moved to Austria in 1990 where he played four seasons. His last team was Germany's EV Landshut where he played part of the 1992-93 season.

  • William "Bill" Gardner (born March 19, 1960 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada) is a retired Canadian ice hockey forward. Gardner started his National Hockey League career with the Chicago Blackhawks in 1981. He would spend his entire career with the Blackhawks except for 26 games he played for the Hartford Whalers. During his career, he scored 73 goals, 115 assists, 188 points in 380 games. He played junior hockey for the Peterborough Petes from 1977-78 through 1979-80. In every season the Petes made it to the Memorial Cup tournament, winning it in 1979. Gardner also played for Canada in the 1980 World Junior Championship. The Chicago Blackhawks selected him 49th overall in the 1979 NHL Entry Draft. In 1980-81 Gardner played for the New Brunswick Hawks of the American Hockey League. Starting in 1981-82 he was a regular on the Hawks for five straight years. The Hartford Whalers accquired him in 1986 for a third round draft choice but he re-signed with the Hawks in 1987. His NHL career was over now and after some time in the minor pros Gardner moved to Austria in 1990 where he played four seasons. His last team was Germany's EV Landshut where he played part of the 1992-93 season. Gardner did some broadcasting work for the Hartford Whalers, Carolina Hurricanes, and the Chicago Blackhawks. He is now a colour commentator for the Chicago Wolves.
